Minister signs agreement with OEACP

Foreign Minister signs headquarters agreement with OEACP.

As President of the Council of Ministers, Téte António defended the need to give greater visibility to the organisation and to identify and open up to diversifying partnerships.

Téte António reiterated the Republic of Angola's commitment to contributing more and more to the implementation of the action plan adopted by the 9th summit of heads of state and government in 2019 in Kenya, as well as the commitment to hold the 113th session of the council of ministers later this year.

As President of the Council of Ministers, Téte António defended the need to give greater visibility to the organisation and to identify and open up to diversifying partnerships. The Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola acknowledged that despite the difficulties caused by the covid 19 pandemic around the world, and especially the impact on the OEACP countries, the organisation had managed to achieve targets that seemed difficult, including the finalisation of the post-Cotonou partnership agreement, as well as the internal restructuring of the OEACP. According to Téte António, it's true that the OEACP still has a long way to go, noting that the new partnership with the European Union is in some cases unclear.

The European Union's list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions and third countries in relation to the fight against terrorism and money laundering and terrorist financing, which unfairly affects some of our members, needs to be revised, the minister argued. In a parallel ceremony, minister Téte António signed a commitment to the organisation of the headquarters agreement for Angola to host the 10th summit of heads of state and government of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States on the 22nd. On behalf of the OEACP, the document was initialled by the organisation's secretary general, Angolan Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti. In Brussels, the Foreign Minister held a working meeting with Mr Stanislav Rascan, state secretary and foreign minister for cooperation and development of the Republic of Slovenia, which currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union. He also held a working meeting with senior officials from the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
