Consular Sector

The Embassy's Consular Sector is responsible for carrying out the duties arising from the applicable legislation in the areas of civil registration and notary public services and the regime for foreign citizens residing and/or on official, service, business or tourist visits; Serving as the focal point for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and bilateral cooperation in the areas of the interior, immigration and police; Drawing up studies and/or opinions in collaboration with the bilateral cooperation sector on the state of implementation of visa agreements and their impact on bilateral cooperation. *Carry out consular visits to ensure that the services are closer to the community; Protect the interests of the Angolan state and its nationals, whether natural or legal persons, within the limits permitted by international law.

Consular enrolment

Consular enrolment is an act from which Angolan citizens qualify for consular protection provided by the Diplomatic Mission, in accordance with the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. It is one of the requirements for a national citizen to be able to benefit from the consular services provided by that Embassy.

In order to proceed with consular registration, Angolan citizens (including minors) resident in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg must gather the following documents:

  1. A duly completed form
  2. Full Copy of Birth Certificate or Full Narrative Birth Certificate
  3. Passport or identity card
  4. Residence Permit (Visa)
  5. Proof of Residence
  6. Statement of employment or
  7. Educational establishment
  8. Fees: See Table 

 

  1. Note: The full copy of the birth certificate must be duly certified by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (valid for up to six months).
  2. Important note: all documents in a foreign language (except passports, international vaccination certificates and proof of flight and hotel bookings) must first be translated into Portuguese by a translator.

Applications for the issue or extension of an ordinary Angolan passport must be made in person at the Consular Section of the Angolan Embassy. To issue a passport, Angolan citizens resident in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg must gather the following documents:

  1. Full Copy of Birth Certificate or Full Narrative Birth Certificate
  2. Valid identity card (if you have one)
  3. Passport (for extension)
  4. Consular Enrolment Card
  5. Three recent passport-sized photographs (3×4.5) with a white background
  6. Residence Permit in the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg
  7. Marriage certificate (if applicable)
  8. Statement of employment or certificate from the educational establishment
  9. Term of Responsibility (for minors)
  10. Fees: See Table
  11.  
  12. Note: The full copy of the birth certificate must be duly certified by the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (valid for up to six months).
